Virgo Full Moon-the practical mystic

Martha Stewart’s Stock Certificate LogoLast night we interviewed our second realtor in the Designed to Sell campaign to sell the house. Who gets the listing is all about relationship. Who liked our dog...who sees the warmth and charm of the home and the neighborhood. If the broker can’t make the emotional connection and relate how do they communicate that warmth to a buyer, down market or not?

With my background I connect naturally to the soul of a home, the soul of the person. While there hasn’t been much time for astrology or SoulCollage cards since everything home wise was in a state of transformation these last 45 days (or chaos depending on your perspective), the house feels like one gigantic SoulCollage card...and every room tells a story. Overall the place and space is energetically lighter, prettier- sound and solid- ready to show. And just like the people in the HGTV program Dear Husband and I are saying why didn’t we do this work sooner, it’s so nice we could stay.

Home and soul is all about balancing the Practical Mystic within; understanding your connection to place and space-earth and spirit. Earth is home. At this full moon look around your home-do you need to act as if you are moving...what would you do? Virgo is the sign of editing and sorting through the clutter to get to the heart of the matter. Pisces in your chart reflects your relationship to Spirit; we are embodied Spirits walking on earth. Heaven and earth can be one and the same expression, it's deep connection to everything we have  naturally as a child. Your Soul Call is to take the revolutionary ideas birthed in Aquarius, and create a new vision with the help of Pisces. Virgo helps us edit and sort it all out- to ground the energies- make our ideas real.

Today we have a Full Moon Lunar Eclipse in Virgo at 10:30 pm. This eclipse energy will be working and learning us collectively for many months. Full moons are a time of release, you get to see the results of your thinking and dreaming- those intentions made at the New Moon on February 6th as well as the New Moon in Virgo six month’s earlier.

In earthy Virgo we want things done ’just right’, it’s the sign of perfection. Martha Stewart and her relationship to home always comes to mind when I think of Virgo (that’s the logo from a Martha Stewart stock certificate- so very astrological).

But Virgo also demands that we have two feet firmly planted on the ground while being connected to our inner spirit (Pisces and the Muse) and a higher power. This is the first full moon in Virgo with Saturn present, and it may be triggering things within related to 28-29 years ago. I invite you to do some inward reflection- to connect with the practical mystic within. At this Full Moon you are called to come back into your body (home) in practical ways.

A full moon/lunar eclipse energy will be with us for six months. Mercury’s just come out of retrograde. Mercury rules Virgo and at the time of this full moon Saturn is also joining with the Moon in opposition to the Sun in Pisces. All of this energy is applying itself to my Mercury in Pisces at the doorway of the 4th house. The fourth house rules the mother, the home, the ancestors. Roots. Mercury rules the mind and how one thinks, communicates.

It’s the dark moon time before my birthday. Did you know the month before your birthday brings up your birthing energy...energy much like a new moon. One’s shadow is up and about; energetically this time of year can feel heavy and dark. It’s a time before your birth when you floated peacefully in your mother’s womb (spirit not yet human), when space was getting rather crowded. You were getting ready to make your move out into the world moving from spirit into matter (earth). Last year I went down the rabbit hole around this time and didn’t pop up until May. Interesting. Then this morning I read a description about the energies of transiting Uranus conjuncting my Pisces Sun in the 4th house:

"You are undergoing a dramatic change during which you may feel the urge to break out and embrace new and exciting pursuits. Life may start to feel like a roller coaster ride as new and exciting opportunities enter your life. Life will be exciting if you go with the flow. However, if you suppress your urge for change feelings of restlessness and rebelliousness will unexpectedly erupt prompting sudden and erratic lunges for freedom."

And that statement sums up where I am at. So what’s your story at this Full Moon in Virgo?

The New Possible of Aquarius

There’s banging at my office door together with a steady whine from the machine stripping our Mexican tile floors. Dear Husband and I are living in one room; the dog is boarded in the kennel. Just this morning Salvation Army arrived to take our appliances while I was still trying to empty out the food. We are in the home stretch of our home staging journey; there is light at the end of this tunnel. In the past three weeks I have used physical, mental and emotional muscles of my former interior designer self. It was fun, I know I can still do it, but I am very tired from the process.

Every act of creation is first an act of destruction. - Paoblo Picasso

Electircity of Uranus, practicality of saturnWhile we are in a state of chaos, the vision, the plan of action is coming together. Saturn retrograding in Virgo is demanding time to focus on the small details. To have faith, trust and patience that it is all coming together- even when the painter takes our $750 deposit and goes off to the Hard Rock Casino (yes, he did…but he told his truth and in the end did an excellent job).

All of this Aquarius energy is nestled into my 4th house of home, roots, family. Transiting Saturn in retrograde opposes my natal Mercury in Pisces, while squaring my natal Saturn in the first house. Oppositions bring a release, squares offer up a challenge to the status quo. Each and every piece that I touched or moved while decluttering and staging the house has offered up a challenge- keep, toss, or donate? Am I through with this? How am I still attached to the story of this item? Does this have heart and meaning for me? Now or in the past? What do I need to let go of in order to move forward?

And I am proud to share this Thursday will be the BIGGEST bulk garbage pick up in the Lessirard history...

Mars (action, the ability to lead) sits in Gemini, squaring my Sun in Pisces, trining my Neptune (faith, hope and trust). Mars retrograde is over and he now moves back again through Gemini and Cancer. He comes out of the shadow April 6th, so until then it’s a time of recapitulation - a do-over of the past three months, to see and move in a different direction. Energy of action and change that wasn’t available to us in the early fall.

dancingWednesday, February 6th at 10:44 pm we greet the New Moon Solar Eclipse at 18° Aquarius. There’s much on the net about this new moon/solar eclipse energy in Aquarius for there’s a stellium of planets lined up (Sun, Moon, Neptune, Chiron and Mercury) in Aquarius. Out in front leading the pack is Uranus in Pisces in the 5th house of creative solutions. Dance to the beat of your own drum.

Wake up, take a risk. Now is the time. It’s one of those moments. Did you catch Maria Shriver’s speech?

Uranus rules the sign Aquarius. Bringing up the rear of this long tail of planetary energies is Pluto in Capricorn waiting to see if you have the guts and courage to dismantle the known structure, to move forward with a new vision- for self, your family, in service. Aquarius Represents:

  • Inventive Solutions- Understanding how things work.
  • Seeing the Future- New trends and unconventional approaches.
  • Humanitarian Attitudes- Operating from a larger world view.
  • Revelation- Unexpected surprises or results.
  • Humor- Objectivity, Tools of Divination
  • Friends- Reciprocity, the giving and receiving, networking
  • Excessive Attachment- Fear of involvement, inflexible opinions, cold aloofness

Where is Aquarius in your chart? What house does it sit on?

Year of the RatThat is the area that has been transformed these past 12 years (the last time we had the Year of the Rat). Aquarius and Leo work to balance each other. Leo is about heart and passion. Aquarius is a fixed air sign representative of the rebel or the individualist.

This is a person (YOU) who knows how to move off from the point and create the new path- the rugged individualist who is ready to shatter the old forms; one who is willing to create and birth the new. This new moon in Aquarius asks you to pay attention to the old ways and methods that are asking to fall away so that the new points may manifest in your life. Leo (Fire) and Aquarius (Air) work as a team. The sign Leo ruled by the Sun represents passion, creativity to manifest what has heart and meaning within you. These creative juices flow from inspiration- that spark or point of light within you. These inspiring points of light are working us as we enter the doorway of this Aquarius new moon. Aquarius is the sign of spiritual rebirth representing Humanity.

Uranus is an electrical force (the blue behind the point), representing freedom from the known. Uranus (Intuition) rules Aquarius (Air) and is the higher octave of Mercury (Mind).

Intuition, Air, Mind, spark of light. Mercury represents communication, logic and function of the rational mind. The way you think has radically changed over the past 12 years- hasn’t it? A person working with awakened Mercury is able to communicate from their heart with love and compassion. One teacher of mine called it a “thinking heart and a feeling mind.” Intellect (rather than ego) meets with Intuition and through right use of mind we are able to think in categories- the matrix of organizing and editing our thoughts into creative inspirational visions. This is the energy availed to us through this months Aquarius doorway.

Embody the New Possibility

Saturn in Virgo: Practical earthy Saturn is now in earthy Virgo for the first time since 1978.

"Earth is a balance of yin and yang, the feminine and masculine together. Its motion is inward and centering, and its energy is stabilizing and conserving. It is associated with the color yellow and the planet Saturn, and it lies at the center of the compass in the Chinese cosmos. It is associated with the turn of each of the four seasons and with damp. It is believed to govern the spleen, stomach, mouth and muscles. Its negative emotion is anxiety and its positive emotion is empathy. Its Primal Spirit is represented by the Yellow Phoenix.

In Chinese thought Earth is associated with the qualities of patience, thoughtfulness, practicality, hard work and stability. The earth element is also nurturing and seeks to draw all things together within the Essential Self, in order to bring harmony, rootedness and stability. Other attributes of the earth element include ambition, stubbornness, responsibility and long-term planning. In pathology, the earth can represent selfishness and self-centeredness. In the controlling cycle earth controls the water and is controlled by wood; while in the conducive cycle earth is produced by fire, and in turn produces metal." Wikipedia

This New Moon celebrates the Chinese New Year of the Earth Rat. Earth (Saturn) and Electricity (Uranus). “Being the first sign of the Chinese zodiacs, rats are leaders, pioneers and conquerors. They are charming, passionate, charismatic, practical and hardworking. Rat people are endowed with great leadership skills and are the most highly organized, meticulous, and systematic of the twelve signs. Intelligent and cunning at the same time, rats are highly ambitious and strong-willed people who are keen and unapologetic promoters of their own agendas, which often include money and power. They are energetic and versatile and can usually find their way around obstacles, and adapt to various environments easily.” Year of the Rat

Uranus is connected to intuition. In our bodies intuition sits in the 3rd (power) and 6th (intuition) chakras working in harmony and balance. Uranus wakes us up suddenly- like a lightening bolt, it transforms. Uranus is traveling through watery Pisces- the home of the Muse, the Dreamer within who created magic in this reality. A true transfigured Magician is able to enter the collective unconsciousness within her Greater Self, create a matrix from the points of light and birth new forms that serve humanity.

Are you ready? Where does Aquarius fall in your birth chart? Where is Uranus in Pisces transiting?

This month you are called to cross the threshold. Hey you have been standing at this doorway for a while, it’s time to move!Transfigure. Gather your points of light to you for change; in support of self and the community your serve. Humanitarian pursuits. Networking from a global and universal perspective.

Be open to the outcome. . . be the change you want to see. Shift.

24 hours before the New Moon start to plan out what you want to set into motion for the Aquarius energy within you. From your chart, look at what house is affected. What are you thinking about? What do you want to create?

24 hours after the new moon release those good intentions. Write them down and burn them over a fire (Air of Aquarius). Bury them (earth of Saturn). Dance them (fire of Mars). Release and trust that your prayers have been heard, that those intentions have the strength and will to manifest. Namaste.

Aquarius New Moon SoulCollage

I am the One who escapes the gilded cage
only to find I am trapped again.

My freedom lies beyond the known
into the dark
to roam,
to fly,
fearless in
the sacred Void
where creativity rests
and renews.

The roar of silence
enfolds me.
I am at peace at the
Aquarius New Moon.

Welcoming the Aquarius and Pisces Festivus

The New Moon in Aquarius at 29 degrees on February 17, 2007- it’s an Aquarius and Pisces festivus.* Be aware. Later degree signs are considered fated, this Aquarius energy acts more Piscean in nature. The Sabian Symbol for this New Moon at 29 degrees of Aquarius:

A BUTTERFLY EMERGING FROM A CHRYSALIS.

EmergeWhat does that symbol evoke for you?

What’s in store? Collectively in the Northern hemisphere we are about to emerge from the death of winter to a rebirth (spring). A betwixt and between time that calls us to find our spiritual center amidst the chaos. Saturn (the structure) is still retrograding in Leo (what has heart and meaning for you now) and stands opposite Neptune in Aquarius. Be authentic, co-create, know your true power and become the authority grounded with spirit. Something we didn’t understand back in 1977/78– the last time Saturn was in Leo. Neptune rules dreamtime, the fog, representing inspirations from seemingly ‘no where’.

Watch for seed thoughts that you may discount- rumblings and mumblings saying ‘go this way’. Are you tapped in? How attuned you are to the energies within and around you? Aquarius represents focused intent- that part of you who likes to deal with things in concrete terms. This lunation is foggy- that can bring frustration to you and the collective psyche (airing of grievances) until we meet the Full Moon Lunar eclipse in Virgo on March 3rd. Why?

Mercury going retrograde in Pisces on February 13 is just the ticket to connect with your Muse. A word of caution-your conscious mind is taking lunch until February 23, try not to engage- there is a level of indecisiveness that may drive you and others bonkers. Combustible energy. Getting tweaked? Take issues at hand into dreamtime. Wait before speaking, hold your words harmless.

Know thyself. In the Aquarius area of your chart you come to serve humanity. To serve in a healthy way I must have a strong connection to spirit- know thyself. It’s a four step process:

  1. I know my true value (Taurus)
  2. I am brilliant and let others shine as well (Leo)
  3. I let go, I know how to surrender what isn’t working for me in my day-to-day routines (Scorpio).
  4. I am unique, I serve through my original gifts and talents. (Aquarius).

At the time of the New Moon where do these Aquarius energies sit for you? What house does Aquarius rule? Are there any other signs there? Check for Chiron. Aquarius is sandwiched between Pisces and Capricorn, think of an Oreo cookie, the filling is Aquarius. Ever see someone become so co-dependent to a group or a cause…they lose a piece of themselves in service to another? In essence there is soul loss, and they are over-compensating for it.

On the Capricorn side I know my roots, I am grounded in my own knowing and secure. The question at this lunation can I go with the flow without getting hooked? Especially with Mercury going retrograde?

Butterfly2Can I recognize the story line of my essential pain of anger, guilt, shame, fear or sadness expressed in the world around me? Can I transmute it? It’s an opportunity to heal, to become vulnerable and move to a new understanding about my gifts, that’s all. Just before we greet the new moon on February 17, Mercury goes retrograde in Pisces, the sign of the fishes from February 13 – March 7, 2007.

Keyword for this lunation- Vulnerability. Being vulnerable is a sign of strength not weakness. You are tapped into your inner feelings- you know yourself. You may find the need to protect your dreams by not allowing others or negative thoughts to dissuade you from your true path.

The Caution: Struggling to emerge ahead of time. Energies around you may be scattered or negative. Find your center. Protect yourself from the negativity by conscious loving self care–i.e. SoulCollaging the issue and journaling engages both the right and left side of your brain. Take the issues into dreamtime, release it through meditation, walks, yoga. Becoming aware of your own energetic body reduces your chance of being caught off guard.

This is a time of growth through awareness. To be vulnerable is to be alive. I always liked astrologer April Kent’s description of Pisces:

The lesson of Pisces is a lesson of making ourselves vulnerable - tuning in to all frequencies, and learning to navigate the tempest-tossed waters of emotional and psychic involvement without drowning. Contrary to pop astrology clichés, Pisces is no more inherently spiritual, psychic, or saintly than any other sign - but it is more vulnerable. The symbol for Pisces is two fish, the tenderest of creatures; Cancer and Scorpio swim in the same empathetic waters, but only Pisces navigates them without a protective shell, completely exposed to both danger and ecstasy. Pisces teaches us divine vulnerability - lowering our defenses, the better to fully empathize and blend with everyone we meet. Learning, in fact, about the illusory nature of protection [and projection].– read more at April Kent’s Pisces article

So the task at hand at this New Moon in Aquarius…

  • stay aware
listen for the fear voice within
see if you can name it
find out, ask, ask, ask “why am I defending?”
express that defensive energy in an a creative way (SoulCollage it).
Take issues into dreamtime or a shamanic journey.
watch for inspirations, mumblings and rumblings
Take notes, make plans but don’t act until the time is right.

Remember Mercury moves out of retrograde (goes direct) on March 7th. Trust you are following your own right timing. Tomorrow I’ll post Part 2– the New Moon in Aquarius through the SoulCollage process.

* Festivus is an annual holiday invented in 1966 [1] by Reader's Digest writer and editor Dan O'Keefe. It was introduced to popular culture by O'Keefe's son Daniel, a scriptwriter for the TV show Seinfeld, on December 18, 1997, in the episode "The Strike".

The celebration of Festivus begins with the Airing of Grievances, which takes place immediately after the Festivus dinner has been served. It consists of lashing into others and the world about how they have been disappointed. Every household has its own traditions, in one house the airing of grievances consists of writing the grievances on the fridge in marker. For more information go to Festivus.

Are you on the List?

This is my blog, I write about personal experiences tied to the astrology of the moment. Sometimes you won’t like what I write. Sometimes it may tweak you. You have come to share a gift, your soul’s code-the Call. When you are not sharing that gift people will tweak you, it’s the Universe’s way to get you and I back on track. We tweak each other.

As Martha says “it is good thing.” I received this email in response to my blog post– Aquarius, Dad and Karma. This is a rant and rave on my part...you have an option of reading no further.

Dear Michele,

I have un-subscribed from your blog and taken you off my blogroll. I do this with some pain in my heart because I thought of you as a great inspiration. I am an Aquarian and if you really think it is an Aquarian message to brag about your father inventing the Taser gun as an application of electricity, all I can say is you neither understand Aquarius, nor do you bring honor upon the Aquarian art of astrology. As for the pot shot about Social Security --  well, Michele, that was the last straw. So many old people need that common decency and I count myself as a proud defender of the widow's mite.

I have given you a lot of air and was very disappointed in the Barbara Streisand piece, which really made me embarrassed for you, but I thought it would be best to see if you really are that way. I said to myself, give it some time and eventually you will know the truth.

Dear Friend,

Oh my, I tweaked you -my father did not invent the taser, he saw products that were going to be useful in the future when no one else was looking and got others to invest in those products because of his passion and excitement.

That post was a stream of consciousness explaining to my readers how an important Aquarius figure played out in my life in a positive way. Asking readers (who probably have Chiron in Aquarius issues) to look for those Aquarius people in their lives. I have come a long way- a decade ago I was berating Dad to my therapist.

Bragging, no….it is a way for me to honor his forward thinking. honoring his difference. His Aquarius style. For the first time I was looking at all the ways he explored the world…and how 30 years later those things have manifested.

Moon frameHow and what do we explore now? Our new frontier is the world behind our eyes that brings fresh problem solving solutions and healing to our communities, to the planet.. by exploring the space betwixt and between. The space and place we have been told not to go by the powers that be. This is the Mystery related to your myth, the new dispensation by whatever name you want to call it. That is Aquarius.

The same Aquarius energy that helped to heal a community when the DC snipers were randomly shooting people as they walked to their cars…how no one could find these men or knew where to look. A gifted Medicine for the Earth teacher who lives in the DC area had just left a training…when she got home her Helping Spirits directed her to hold a circle.

Following the guidance this gifted teacher got her drumming circle together and they all brought a scoop of earth from their homes to the meeting. They prayed and drummed. Other Medicine for the Earth teachers across the United States joined in support long distance, we transfigured, blessed the earth to keep people safe, Called in the Spirit of the Land, our benevolent ancestors, called in our Helping Spirits with love, even for the snipers, we asked them to reveal themselves. Come out of the dark. Within hours of the ceremony they found the snipers asleep in their car in a public park. That is Aquarius.

Medicine for the Earth12Today this sacred group of committed souls around the world journeys at each New Moon to the Rio Grande River, to heal and transform the pollution through spiritual means. Look at the way nature is responding– look at all the snows that are falling in the Midwest. The spring run off, the waters being renewed in the rivers. That is Aquarius.

Christ said “Greater things you shall do than I.” In my humble opinion it is time we collectively show up and start living that statement. If I tweaked you, rubbed you raw, then figure out why, but don’t blame me for it.

Today I encounter people who discount spiritual healing…astrology and such. Discount their spiritual responsibility to show up, discount their ability to sit in community with others of like heart and spirit from all walks of life, discount the ability to heal polluted water with spiritual light.

Are you on the List? At the same time I see a hungering, a group of gifted souls with compassionate hearts who want to band together to make a difference. There is a Quickening happening-not in the old paradigm of guru to student, apprentice to teacher. The new way where we show up, stand in our light, embody our divinity and connect–“knowing we are more powerful together than we could ever be apart.” -Heroes. That is Aquarius.

They are the forward thinkers, who are ready to birth their light, reveal their brilliance. They are on the List, and have come to make a difference. If I can shepherd their spiritual gifts into the light through the writings on this blog, and the teachings I share; get them to see that becoming real, being a true healer is honoring your warts and all [both/and not either/or] then I have shown up and become real too. It’s a shared journey that is Aquarius.

30 years from now we, the forward thinkers, will be mainstream and talked about. It will be discussed how these times are the dark ages.

For me it is the thinking that all of us face when we step up to the plate, walk into a world that just wants to stay unconscious. How we all need to engage that ‘sense of being different” as real- to be proud of it.

Aquarius people have modeled that for me, my dad, my sister and my mentor who died from breast cancer. And so I wrote about it.

Somehow my words tweaked you, fired you up. Then there is healing in this for you as well. Before you disengage from this blog I invite you to look within. We are all sacred mirrors for each other, and if I am to do my Aquarius differently, heal some aspect of it, well I welcome the energy home.

As to the quote about the Social Security issue: Alice Howell is a gifted elder in her late 80’s- she said cipher. Ms. Howell is a Jungian astrologer whose books I love and writings I respect, I didn’t get the hit about social security and widows that you did.

But then I am more Pisces with a Scorpio rising.

Sorry to see you go, I wish you well. Thank you for reading this. I have an Aquarius SoulCollage to create.

In loving support,
Michele

A SoulCollage for the Capricorn New Moon

Each month women are submitting their New Moon SoulCollages…I am putting their names into a hat and picking two. This month I am looking at the SoulCollage card and birth chart of Julie and DianeK (there were two Diane’s who submitted their collages). Looking for the New Moon in Capricorn post go here.

Julie writes about her process online at her own blog Emerging Crone…what I am sharing here in this post is the relationship of the her Capricorn SoulCollage to Julie’s birth chart. There are 12 doorways in one’s birth chart. Each month the Sun and the Moon hold a meeting in one section of your chart. 12 months, 12 doorways, 12 steps.

From Julie’s chart Capricorn sits at the 5th house doorway…her life lessons would be about expressing Capricorn, Saturn and creativity. I build in the 5th house. In looking at Julie’s SoulCollage what stands out for me is the Tn_julieClock and the artist Frida. I build with Frida’s support:

Frida found a way of painting pain – of permitting us to see pain and in so doing, reflecting the pain of the world. … She is a figure that represents the conquest of adversity, that represents how – against hell and high water – a person is able to make their life and reinvent themselves and make that life be personally fulfilling... Frida Kahlo in that sense is a symbol of hope, of power, of empowerment, for a variety of sectors of our population who are undergoing adverse conditions.  http://www.pbs.org/weta/fridakahlo/today/index.html

The healer Barbara Brennan shares that our wound is our greatest blessing. To be a great healer we must find where we are wounded and lovingly tend the energy. Through the archetype of Chiron in our charts we learn how to shape shift the energy and become the wounded healer. Clocks have to do with right timing, and Saturn rules the timing of death and rebirth. What does this have to do with Capricorn…
