Gifts to bring out the Virgo in you

What’s in your stocking? Are you organized? More Virgo than Pisces? Good for you, I try but it doesn’t always work...With a Moon in Aries and Sun in Pisces, I move on pretty quickly to the next project, which outwardly manifests as creative chaos; I need all the help I can get to organize. I thought I’d share some of my favorite tools for managing my creative space and the New Moon SoulCollage® process...you may want to add one or all to your holiday wish list. **smile**

Journaling: I don’t like journaling in a notebook, my thoughts come too fast and hand writing is too slow. When I started writing down my dreams I found Microsoft Word too cumbersome. First off anyone could open up the file, and well I wanted a process with more bells and whistles. Then I found LifeJournal eight years ago and never looked back. This software is easy to use, organizes my dreams,journal_software gives me prompts for journaling and my SoulCollage® cards are seamlessly integrated into the writing. If you are looking for a gift this holiday season check out LifeJournal.

Organizing: I love my Collector’s Cabinet! I have two in the studio and the units organize everything into 11x14 photo frame trays. I originally bought the cabinets for rubber stamps (I am a scanner); but now the cabinets hold sorted images waiting to be turned into Soulcollage cards. I can take a tray out and work with it on my desk and the images don’t get lost in the shuffle. One 11x14 tray holds six SoulCollage® card packs. I hung the cabinets on the wall in my studio, but the units can be used on I love my xacto bladethe floor (they even come with little wheels to move around). Here’s another view of two small cabinets used as a sofa table, and one wouldn’t even know the person’s a crafter! Oh and here’s a great resource for storage and craft rooms.

Protect the desk: I use an x-acto knife to cut out images for SoulCollage cards -okay, this I am very Virgo about-no white space! I need a strong surface to cut on. Last month I traded in the little cutting mat for a ginormous 36 x 60 cutting mat from Joanne’s Fabrics (it was on sale at the store, not online). The clear mat is permanently mounted with double stick tape on top of the desk; now I can sit anywhere around it and cut out images. I love it!

This holiday season, what’s on your wish list?

Top 12 fav blogs-what's their sign?

blogs I readEver asked a blog "what’s your sign?" Here’s the top 12 blogs I put my glasses on to read and where I’d place them in the astrology wheel of life. Step back Aries, Pisces comes first on this list.*

  1. Pisces-spirit, dreamtime, inner muse: Notes from Dreamtime by writer and shamanic practitioner Craig R. Smith. Smart and irreverent, Craig writes one of the best blogs on shamanism I have found. I am sure there are others and if you blog about shamanism please share the link. Most blogs are just not worth my time to read. Check out a recent post on shamanism and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder -Braving the Past *Pisces comes first because it’s my blog and hey, I am a Pisces.
  2. Aquarius-awakening, individualist, lightning: An Aquarius person...they are way out ahead of the pack telling their truth while leaving others in the wake scratching their heads wondering- "What’s wrong with you?" Bottom line they are not the status quo. My fav Aquarius pick is Rosie’s Blog. Yes she’s wacky, she’s the court jester [Fool] and she has heart. There is always something that grabs me on her blog like this quote from a reader "we all carry monsters and angels in our hearts - truth allows one to diminish - the other to thrive."
  3. mad men and their corporate lifeCapricorn-public self, the corporate life, working world: Think of AMC’s Mad Men and how they spin the merchandise. A Capricorn blog for me - Escape from Cubicle Nation by Pam Smart. Pam is a great marketing coach I worked with last year who shares how to ’get a life’-step into your power and live your truth beyond the Corporation.
  4. Sagittarius-teacher, risk taker, the Hierphont: JWalking by David Kuo over at BeliefNet is a conservative Republican from the early Bush years who had a change of heart (cancer does that to people) and got back to the basics. Truth. While I don’t agree with the politics his insights make me think. Check out his post on Converted by Clinton.
  5. Scorpio-transformation, letting go, power: Spiritual Emergency and Spiritual Recovery The 8th house reflects transformation issues- death and rebirth. Many times people get stuck in the journey because they don’t know what is happening. These two blogs are a great resource for the Scorpio energies at play.
  6. Libra-harmony, partnerships, balance: Fair and balanced relationships...I offer up The Official Blog for The Work of Byron Katie. No need to say more.
  7. Virgo-order, edit and sorting, healer: The Kitchen Designer. As an interior designer I love Susan Sera’s energy and insights into living, designing and planning [so very Virgo] a kitchen. Her work and gardens, c’est magnifique!
  8. Leo-joyfully feisty, creative, child-like: There are so many bloggers I could list here, how about my top three- Claudine Hellmuth. Aunty Cookie, D’Blogala
  9. Cancer-home, heart[h], family: SouleMama blog by Amanda Soule shares her wisdom, art and stories of creating a home, being a mom and getting back to basics. Her blog was such a hit with readers she got a book deal! Her new website is gorgeous!
  10. Gemini-siblings, networking, communicating, thinking: The Wish Jar by Keri Smith. Keri communicates her insights about being an artist, getting back to basics. She’s pregnant and full of creative insights. Watch what a pregnant artist does!
  11. Taurus-financial security, self esteem, material things: Success from the Nest by Tony D. Clark asks "Do you want to do meaningful, fulfilling work, and achieve wealth on your own terms - all from the comfort of your own nest?" With his cartoons and insights this blog makes me ponder on my Taurus issues in a good way.
  12. Aries- leader, warrior, feisty: Fire, spunk and spirit define’s Sandra Gahlinger’s blog Tittyology. But first read what the Providence Journal wrote as Sandra said “bon voyage to my boobies party,” her “fond farewell to my mammaries,” and her “ta-ta to my ta tas.”

I have to ask what sign is the New Moon Journal for you?

What blogs do you read? Ever thought about what astrology signs a blog relates to in the scheme of life?

I invite you to comment below... share your favorite blog [or two] and what’s it’s sign?

Sun enters Libra-moving to get it

Autumnal Equinox. For those living in the Northern Hemisphere the Sun enters Libra at 5:52 am on September 23 2007 and we collectively begin the fall harvest- of letting go and surrendering. Death of the past to manifest the future. It’s time to give your creative life new form, to disintegrate, purify and regenerate.

During the summer months we may have been imbrued with new direction, a creative project was revealed in the inner world that now seeks attention in our outer world.

dreamHere’s a quick scenario of what happens energetically when you seek to build.

I am inspired with a new idea or project (last spring, New Moon in Aries).

I start to create from that seed thought. The idea is manifesting within my psyche. I plan it, I speak it. [5th chakra] I love it. [4th chakra] I edit and sort my inner and outer worlds to make it real. [Virgo] My dream begins to build power within me and around me. [Mars,3rd chakra] I move to get it.

How good are you at moving it???

To get it, I have to move. I have to stand in my power, be authentic. In order to move I’ll meet others along the way-my partner, my friends, my family [Libra] and as I share my precious idea, those people might not see my vision or understand what I am about.

  • How do you meet with naysayers and doubters?
  • Do you abandon your creative projects?
  • Do you rear up?
  • Do you push through it? Again...

How do you move to get it?

It’s now time to temper my response..do I expand and take a risk- feel it and drive it home, or do I contract, retreat- to feel it and drive it home. Each task is a death. Each task is sacred.

The Fall Season- Libra, Scorpio and Sagittarius

In the Fall we harvest the seeds for planting next spring. What you planted in March 2007 is now ready for harvesting. If I planted weeds then I am harvesting weeds. If you planted corn you are harvesting corn. Cycles and rhythm and balance are what this astrology stuff is about. Bringing the sky and the earth together and honoring the rhythm of the seasons and the rhythms of the day and night forces is mirrored back, within you, around you. In that regard issues I may be dealing with issues that are ready to be taken to the next level, released and surrendered too (Scorpio) based on the way I think (Mercury). Plus at the Autumnal Equinox there is a Mars/Pluto opposition (see Lynn Hayes post here) at play taking the intensity up a notch. Mars goes retrograde in November 14th and jabs back and forth at Pluto until Spring 2008.

What did you wish and dream of back in late March? Harvest it now. Here are some themes for the Libra energy and your SoulCollage® cards for the next new moon. In Libra I am the One who....

  • I am the One who Partners. I am the One who is a Wife. My energy relates to healthy agreements, sharing and interdependence.
  • I am the One who Balances. My energy relates to issues of fairness including balance, equality, appreciation of opposite views, negotiation and counseling.
  • I am the One who Counsels.
  • I am the One who is Beautiful. I seek harmony representing peace, beauty and art. Refinement- luxury, elegance, pampering, good taste, grace are things that attract me.
  • I am the One who builds Teamwork- giving and receiving, collaborating, supportive relationships, cooperation.
  • I am on the One who is the Diplomat. I love being social- being companionable, tact, getting along with others, one-on-one interactions, diplomacy, affinity for others. On the world-wide web think of MySpace and Facebook.
  • I am the One who is Co-dependent. I feel lost in my relationships- loss of self-identity, appeasing behaviors, indecision, aimless discussion. I represent entanglements that bind.
  • I am the One who Harvests. Restoring health- adrenal glands, buttocks, diabetes, kidneys.

Michele’s SoulCollage® card for the Fall Harvest
Death Stalking...

Michele’s SoulCollage cardI am the One
who is Death.
You walked
and stalked with me
as a child
learning much.

I bring changes
to the inner and
outer worlds.

To render
to release,
what no longer serves.
To renew.

Walk with me now
see what I hold,
where I go
there are lessons.

-----------

Fall catalogs arrived in record numbers this month, and this One wanted attention. Jennifer Louden’s blogs about resisting her own inward retreat. The death of mommyhood I faced this summer and the renewed energies I have found in letting go reminds me once again how we are collectively called to face the little deaths to be reborn anew.

You may now find yourself dealing with issues that are ready to be taken to the next level, released and surrendered too (Scorpio) based on the way you think (Mercury). Who and how are you going to partner with another to make your creative dream happen?

Thus, as we turn the wheel from summer into fall, Libra’s energies call us to bring our creative life back into balance- in all our relationships. To ask what has heart and meaning for me now? How do I hold myself back? Am I supported? What needs to be let go of so I can move freely into the future?

Saturn’s now in Virgo, demanding change, attention to details and the structure of health and work.

You’ll see pretty quickly what needs attention, what needs to be let go. The archetype of Pluto, the Transformer as death [also Saturn] is often depicted as a dark form holding a sickle. Saturn represents the structure, the status quo, the ego. Fear. Pluto is the cosmic garbage collector, he takes away in order to transform. Something needs to change or be surrendered in order to go to the next place. Restructure.

Harvesting your seed thoughts means that Death is stalking. Fall is a time of disintegration, we surrender and let go to move to the next place. Expect resistance, expect disintegration and then renewal. The Moon and the seasons reflect this cycle of birth, death and renewal. Our own birth chart mirrors this dance with death (8th house, Scorpio) and at the turn of the wheel we begin the Fall. Namaste.

The sweet smell of success

Here are some New Moon Journal® blogkeeping issues (so very Virgo) I need to address. Subscriptions and Content...

look for the orange boxRSS problem- RSS is how this blog is published and sent to you. Over the last month I have been getting rebroadcasts of old posts from The New Moon Journal®. How irritating. If I am getting them, then so are you.

I am sorry.

I have talked to both Feedblitz (my subscription service) and TypePad (where my blog is hosted). No one has an answer for me yet. **argh** I appreciate your patience while I work this out. If you read a lot of blogs I suggest using a feedreader. I use BlogLines and love it. I capture the blogs I want to read by clicking the little orange box (found in the person’s blog) and BlogLines does the rest. BlogLines is my morning paper.

The Sweet Smell of Success- Thanks for the link!

Michele’s SoulCollage® CardsI love writing, creating and sharing about the Moon. After six years of publishing The New Moon Journal® [252 posts, 152 comments] my efforts are paying off. Others are picking up the excitement of working with SoulCollage® and the New Moon energies. I am proud to say this blog is being talked about and I am so grateful.

Are you feeling inspired by this website? Are you a blogger? An astrologer? If so I’d appreciate a link on your blog back to the New Moon Journal® when discussing the New Moon SoulCollage® process!

Please let me know about your SoulCollage® cards and I’ll add them to Flicker with a link to your site in the gallery of New Moon SoulCollage® images. And if you blog about SoulCollage® I invite you to join the SoulCollage® WebRing.

So that’s enough blogkeeping for me today, and yes, the New Moon Journal® is now officially registered and trademarked. Yeah!

Martha Stewart and Me, 6 degrees

Beeswax and SoulCollaging®. Martha Stewart and Me. Six degrees of separation.

Six degrees of separation refers to the idea that, if a person is one "step" away from each person he or she knows and two "steps" away from each person who is known by one of the people he or she knows, then everyone is no more than six "steps" away from each person on Earth.-Wikipedia

Do you want to follow an artist and be inspired by not only her talent but also her ability to market and be a successful business woman?

Michele’s Beeswax SoulCollage CardYesterday collage artist Claudine Hellmuth* was on the Martha Stewart Show. I AM SO HAPPY FOR HER! In 2003 I took a beeswax collage class with Claudine in Orlando. I made several great pieces and got hooked on beeswax. The smell of beeswax is just wonderful as one paints to glue down objects and add color. Those beeswax SoulCollage® cards created a buzz the SoulCollage Facilitator training in February women asked "how did you do that?" Well I have Claudine to thank!!

Here’s one of those pieces turned into a SoulCollage® card using old tissue from a Simplicity dress pattern, wax crayons (red and yellow) and old photograph (that’s my mom’s baby picture**smile**).

The fun of not only discovering new ways of creating but also...

  • Community-being in all that creative energy with others of like mind and heart creating art.
  • Sharing-Claudine walking into the room with a giant duffle bag of images and dumping the pile on the floor for us to play and create with.
  • Observing- I sat in the first row. After getting the class started we got to see Claudine’s process for perfecting and doodling a "new" technique she called Poppets®. Now to see those Poppets® on the Martha Stewart Show was just delicious.

She is a great teacher and I just love her blog, her enthusiasm for the Work and how she keeps reinventing her self and her art. Here’s a snippet from her Beeswax Collage DVD, and if you can catch her on Martha Stewart’s show.

* Six degrees-Holly over at Decor8 (Great blog, great ideas) showcased Claudine’s art a few months back, a Martha Stewart producer reads Holly’s blog and contacted Claudine to be on the show. Six degrees of separation. Yahoo to the power of community and blogging!

Saturn in Virgo

Balancing the Masculine and FeminineAt 9:49 am Sunday, September 2, 2007 Saturn enters earthy Virgo for the first time in 29 years and stays for two years. Over the next 10 days I will be discussing these Virgo energies in short posts every other day. My goal is to serve you with a series of constructive creative insights into how Saturn in Virgo may be working and learning you...especially as we approach the New Moon/Solar Eclipse in Virgo on September 11, 2007.

“I am creatively expressing my soul’s purpose that benefits and serves others. Today I seek a clear understanding of my function and role in society.” - A Virgo affirmation from Alan Oken’s Soul Astrology

Get Grounded. Honor what you know. Saturn represents the connection to all things of matter- earth, your 1st chakra, structure, the masculine principle, the Father. Tribal conditioning that may no longer serve you. The will to survive. Something is being birthed, you may not see it yet for it still sits on the spiritual realm ready for manifestation. But only if there is order and structure to give the energy form.

First lets look at your cast of characters and how the vibration of Virgo impacts your life:

  1. Where is the sign Virgo in your chart? What house?
  2. Are there any planets in that house?
  3. Who are those mentors that serve as a Virgo mirror in your life’s journey?
  4. Who are the important people born in the sign of Virgo [August 21 through September 22]?
  5. Are these Virgo people a challenge or a joy to be around? Look to past relationships?
  6. In those Virgo relationships what have you learned?
  7. List significant events that occurred in your life around mid-August through mid-September.
  8. Look at the last time Saturn was in Virgo. List significant events in your life from August 1978 through October 1980.
  9. Look at the Pisces people in your life? Again where they a challenge or a joy to be around? What lessons did these Piscean people bring you?
  10. List significant events in your life from February 1994 through April 1996.
  11. I invite you to create a SoulCollage Community card to honor these significant people in you life. For more information read The Community Suit in the SoulCollage book by Seena Frost, pages 23-32.

I created a Virgo Journal PDF for use in this exercise. The task is to gather information about how Virgo/Pisces has impacted you life- both the negative and the positive.

Virgo asks you to embrace a common sense practical approach to life, your day-to-day routines infused with Spirit. Spirit and matter working in union brings transfiguration. More light and life rather than more drama/trauma. It’s a choice. Virgo is earthy and grounded.

Working with clients for over ten years in the soul retrieval process I have met several people who get so fixated on their storyline that leaves no room for healing to occur. "How I was wounded" is the negative aspect of Virgo’s analytical quality gone astray.

The story’s constant repeat creates a vicious numbing cycle that can create additional soul loss in your life, in essence you missed the gift of the experience. But when we dance the story, breath the story, infuse it with meaning and magic the energy moves, transmutes and transforms.

What is true for you?

Can you voice that truth?

Can you keep your peace?

When we hold onto a belief, become inflexible, rigid and stubborn we create trauma/drama in our lives. There is so much misrepresentation of truth out in the world right now, so much mind chatter. What’s true for you may not be right for another. How do you embrace and embody the law of allowing?

Pisces and Virgo work together to balance the mystical side of Pisces and the practical world of Virgo. Holding the tension of the opposites we walk the razors edge. Pisces is ruled by Neptune, a water element, fluid and boundless. For a person to work the Pisces area of their life and forget Virgo’s energy can bring a mystical union with the divine yet leave the person unable to function in their day to day world (chaos).

A strong Pisces personality needs to be grounded- two feet planted on the ground!!

A strong analytical Virgo personality needs to be lifted!!

Balance these too extremes and the person is highly intuitive and grounded; one who is able to manifest their dreams in the material world, face their challenges and still laugh like a child. There is faith and trust in their ability to be present in their own lives.

Medicine for the Earth

Been on the road getting Dear Daughter off to fall semester but wanted to share this with you. Medicine for the Earth: How to Transform Personal and Environmental Toxins Soul Retrieval: Mending the Fragmented Self How to Heal Toxic Thoughts: Simple Tools for Personal Transformation Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner’s Guide

* Michele’s Testimonial: I have been integrating the Medicine for the Earth principles into my life and healing practice since 2000.
Two years ago at our neighborhood 4th of July cookout Dear Husband was frying fish. The pot got knocked and spilled boiling oil down Dear Husband’s leg. Immediately I transfigured and started doing healing on his leg, it was an amazing experience. While he experienced 2nd degree burns, the leg never festered, nor did it cause him any great pain, and there is very little scaring.

Repelling

SoulCollage for LeoAugust 12, 2007, 7:02 pm est, there is a New Moon in Leo at 20 degrees of Leo. Leo is about fire, taking a risk. Light. Repelling into the unknown with faith and courage. The Sabian Symbol for 20 degrees of Leo-ZUNI INDIANS PERFORM A RITUAL TO THE SUN. "Natural man links himself consciously to the source of all life on earth....Identification through worship. After ruthlessly destroying the First Nation people we come back to the tribe as an exemplar of peaceful and harmonious group living."-Dane Rudhyar Again take note of this happening-the Global Elders . Because of my schedule I invite you to look again at this post.

24 hours before the new moon set your intention for the next 29 days. What do you want to create this year? Celebrate this intention at the New Moon in the form of a ritual. Because Leo is part of the fire triad…light a candle, or start a small fire in a safe place outside in the night sky. Watch for omens…signs from the smoke, the animals around you. Stay aware for the next 24 hours.

24 hours after the New Moon surrender the intentions. Allow.
Many blessings on this Leo New Moon.
